This year, Team AGADA participated in the Walk to Defeat Duchenne, raising more than $3,000 towards an incredible total of $11,550 across Nova Scotia and $213,308 nationwide. We also had the privilege of walking alongside Team Coady, the Nova Scotia ambassadors for Defeat Duchenne Canada, whose inspiring story reminds us of the importance of supporting families affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

We also laced up our walking shoes for the Muscular Dystrophy Canada Walk & Roll in Halifax. The event brought together 87 participants, 19 volunteers, and nine registered teams, raising an outstanding $61,000 to support Canadians living with neuromuscular disorders.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a rare genetic condition, with symptoms usually appearing between the ages of two and five. As the disease progresses, it impacts mobility, heart function and breathing, and while treatments have improved significantly, there is currently no cure. Duchenne affects approximately 1 in every 3,500 to 5,000 children born worldwide. Ongoing fundraising helps to support research into new treatments, improve care for those living with the condition, and provide vital support for families.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, participated, and cheered us on. We’re honored to play a small part in helping these amazing organizations continue their vital work, and we look forward to supporting these events again in the future.
