Environmental and stewardship
We implement sustainable facility initiatives and eco-friendly laboratory practices to reduce our environmental impact while maintaining strict operational standards.
About environmental and stewardship
Disciplined execution anchors every stage of your rare disease program. Our team operates in strict compliance with GCP and GLP regulations to ensure your clinical data remains interpretable and defensible worldwide. We maintain strict chain-of-custody protocols and provide real-time oversight to protect your results and ensure reliable outcomes.
Sustainable facility and laboratory initiatives
Our Halifax facility utilizes sustainable infrastructure and active waste reduction programs:
Energy efficiency:
Installing VRF and HRV systems, ductless fume hoods, refrigerators and wind-powered ultra-low temperature freezers.
Laboratory waste:
Implementing glove recycling alongside eco-friendly kits, consumables and reagents.
Reusable goods:
Eliminating single-use office items utilizing cloth towels, silverware, china and thermal mugs.
Community e-waste:
Donating ~50 laptops to the LakeCity Works Reboot program.
Commitment to rare disease communities
We actively support neuromuscular patient education, advocacy and clinical advancement:
- Event sponsorship: Sponsoring Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s Atlantic Canada Walk and Roll and the Walk to Defeat Duchenne.
- Clinical funding: Our CEO helped form Defeat Duchenne Canada (formerly “Jesse’s Journey”) and serves on their scientific advisory board.
- Regulatory success: This partnership funded a Canada-only vamorolone trial across five sites for DMD patients ages 2-4 and 7-18, directly contributing to FDA and Canadian approvals.
Local community engagement
Beyond our scientific work, our team actively supports the local Halifax community:
- Patient education: Forming fundraising groups and volunteering at local events to lead activities for children with neuromuscular diseases.
- Food security: Partnering with the Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank and contributing to the Turkey Club to provide holiday meals.
